Windows 10: DRIVER FOR .. ASUS USB BT400

Why .........BLUETOOTH DRIVER FOR ..ASUS USB BT400 not work with win 10 /64bits ?

I was trying to install my Asus bt400, win 7 could not find it

downloaded drivers from asus. would not work

searched ms found link to update and fix asus driver and did not realize that is was going to a 3rd party company in india - they cannot and do not speak English very well.

Do not go here they want to take your money. I called and ask if this was a paid program,

finally after explaining what I was saying 5 times to some guy from india who did not understand english. I just hung up on him the the buttwad call me back. Needless to say I was and am not very happy about that.

Hi Stephen,

This issue might be caused by incompatibility of your Asus USB-BT400 and your LG soundbar. What we suggest is to contact the manufacturer of of these devices.

Here's an update (successful) . . .

In the six weeks or so since I initially posted this, I have received a number of helpful suggestions (thanks to all, especially Paul C. at Asus), not only from this Board but also from various others.

Unfortunately, none of the suggestions worked, but the following did. I have no idea why, but would be interested to hear of any theories

I eventually tried plugging the Asus USB-BT400 into a different desktop, a 5-year-old Acer running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. I got the latest driver from the Asus site at:

USB-BT400｜Adapters｜ASUS Global

(which is also the site where I had previously downloaded the Windows 10 driver on the other (Dell T5500) desktop).

Before going any further, I recommend that you replace any drivers that may be on your own computer(s) with the latest (free) drivers from this Asus site.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to unplug the Asus USB-BT400 before you do this and then re-insert it once the new drivers have been successfully installed. Do
NOT use the drivers on the CD which comes with the product - they are well out-of-date!

I turned off the power on the LG Soundbar and then switched it back on and selected BT using its function button. I then Paired and (on the second attempt) successfully Connected the Win 7 desktop with the Soundbar. It seems (although I can't confirm) that
powering the SB on and off clears its memory of all the horrors that have gone before.

I then powered the SB of and on again, unplugged the Asus USB-BT400 from the Acer Win 7 computer and plugged it into the Dell Win 10 computer. Voila - it worked perfectly.

I do hope that this will be of help to others. Please let me know (via this Board) how you get on and whether you have any theories on why this seems to work. BTW, it's
NOT just the powering off and on of the SB - I'd tried that before. Either it's trial and error coincidence or something in the Win 7 driver comms was a catalyst for when the Win 10 driver was subsequently used.
