Intel 200 and 300 series? Chipset driver issues.

For some reason under device manager there are both 200 and 300 series intel chipsets. Before I installed the 300 series drivers from dell's website,
there was only 200 series chipsets but everything was working fine with no errors before and after. Also when I go into properties all of the 200 series devices say that they are working fine but also say that there are no drivers installed. What the heck
    is going on?

    Specs:

    Computer Model: Dell Inspiron 5680

    Motherboard Chipset: Intel Z370

    CPU: Intel Core I7-8700

OS: Fresh installed(Not oem) Windows 10 Home 64-bit

UPDATE: I went to the one 300 series driver that was installed from the dell website and clicked update driver to see what would happen. It updated
it and now the LPC controller is a 200 series driver. What the heck!? I also clicked that for the other ones but it said that you already have the best drivers installed. I checked windows update too but there was no driver updates.

  3. Intel RST driver concern

    I don't have Optane
I remember reading in another thread where you suggested the MS standard AHCI driver.
I can't remember though the reason ...if it was something about stability. I just don't remember

I changed to AHCI mode about 18 mos ago. All I did was change the SATA controller mode in the BIOS (in safe mode without having to re-install Windows)
The SATA Controller mode came factory pre-configured in the BIOS in Raid On mode. From my understanding, in Raid ON mode, you put the NVMe drivers behind the Intel RST controller, and by design the software can’t see past the IRST controller

The change to AHCI automatically set up the install of Intel's 300 Series Chipset SATA AHCI controller.

To be honest, the reason I haven't changed it is because I'm not certain how to go about it. If I had to guess, there's more to uninstalling the Intel 300 Series AHCI in Device Manager by clicking uninstall ... or does the MS Standard AHCI controller become the default after uninstalling Intel's ?
never mind. a search showed how to pick from a list of device drivers to replace the Intel driver

Also, when I did the SATA mode change in the BIOS, the change replaced the Chipset SATA /PCIe RST Premium Controller with the Microsoft Standard NVM Express Controller.

Intel 200 and 300 series? Chipset driver issues.

    Hello,

    Since you are using an
Intel Z370 chipset, it would be logical to have 300 series drivers. However, your OEM might have installed 200 series drivers for compatibility and stability reasons. The 200 and 300 series drivers should be able to coexist in your computer without any
issues (backward compatibility should come into play).

To troubleshoot driver and hardware-related issues, we highly recommend that you reach out to your laptop or desktop manufacturer for further assistance. For more information on how to contact your manufacturer, you may refer to the following article:
