Windows 10: Driver update Utility

All:

I have a program that wants to update my drivers.
It said it found 3 drivers that were outdated & wanted to update them!
I said yes with some trepidation, then it asked for my Email address!

That's were I stopped & backed out & cancelled the whole thing!


In big letters it said " Microsoft Partner"!


Is this safe to use? Is it any good?

1. I read it on that page.

2a. Around August 2016.

2b. The computer came with Windows 10 preinstalled.

3. Manufacturer is Asus.

4. Yes, I have self installed McAfee application after I bought the computer.

5. No.

6. Version 1607, OS build 14393.1358

7a. It was removed around 2 hours before this post creation. The older version was removed via uninstallation at programs and features.

7b. My wifi connection for this computer has been dropping off for the past few months and would auto-reconnect after 10 seconds. This situation occurred more frequently recently. Thus, wanting to check for latest network adapter drivers through the Intel
drivers update utility. The current driver version is 19.51.0.4.

1. Intel Support stated it or you read it on that page?

2a. When (approx. date) did you purchase the computer?

2b. Did the computer come with Win10 preinstalled, did you do a clean install of Win10, or did you upgrade a Win7 computer or a Win8.1 computer [<=PICK ONE!] to Win10?

3. Who manufactured the computer (e.g., Dell; HP; Acer; Lenovo; ASUS)?

4. Has a Norton application or a McAfee application EVER been installed on the computer since you bought it?

5. Have you ever run the Norton Removal Tool and/or the
McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool?

6. What Version & OS Build of Windows 10 is currently installed?

  key. In the RUN dialog, type WINVER and press the Enter key.

7a. When & how was the "older version removed?"

7b. What problems are you having that you think might be resolved by having the utility installed again?

 

Can't really comment on it because you have not told us what the program is. I don't trust driver update programs unless they are from the manufacturer of the hardware I have installed.

Hi the only one I use that you have to pay for is Auslogics Driver Updater I have used it now for 3 years and have never been let down by it and it has a gold Certificate from Microsoft.
It run in the background and tell you if any new drivers come out from the manufacturer

SDI is free and works well, but it downloads quite large driverpacks. Snappy Driver Installer download | SourceForge.net

Snaildriver is free and seems ok. Free Windows Driver Updater by Snaildriver

 

You don't need any application of this kind at all. It's vapourware. It can be a problem if such an application misidentifies hardware and tries to install a driver.
Not everyone has the same hardware, so some one saying it's OK on theirs means nothing.

I only use drivers from the manufacturer or Windows updates.
