Windows 10: Driver updates

In point of fact, the Windows Update MiniTool (WUMT) does as good a job, or better, of any of the commercial, for-a-fee driver updaters I've tried and reviewed in print. I've had good results in the past using e-Support's DriverAgent (~$30 a year) and also Slimware Utilities' Driver Update (ditto on price). But WUMT is truly, really free and includes no "get more with paid purchase" capability at all. Thus, interested parties have nothing to lose in trying it out. Your joking right. Trying to google drivers made me download spyware. I rather use Snappy Driver it has not caused any issues on four PC's.

Also yes WU mini tool found drivers too but it did not find the unknown drivers on two dells that snappy driver found.

Easy as my AV flagged it and it even blocked me from going to the page so I did not actually download it tried but the AV Nod32 stopped it.

Except last time when I stupidly turned PUP off to download that malware crap from Russia claiming driver updates that I found from Google of all places. That was when I had to reinstall windows from scratch by formatting the SSD and reinstalling W10 which was good because it runs better than before.

 

Indeed, when you are looking for drivers in general, search engines will mostly not display malware results. But if you search for a specific ID or an older driver by the name, there are many webpages, which offer the latest driver, except it is fake and it is always bundled with something nasty. I have seen a few of those too. There are fakes for everything, there is even fake Windows Defender, which looks almost identical. *Smile

Slimware Utilities are legit though outdated, but Malwarebytes has got crazy and they mark everything as PUP now. I wonder when they mark Windows game mode as a malware, since it is a system optimizer as well.

 

So does NOD32 which I use to think was a PITA until I ignored it and got that junkware which caused me to reinstall W10.

 

What page ? There's not one but hundreds of pages where drivers can be found, nothing different than looking for anything else.

 

Wise Care has just released driver updater, but I do not think it will be free once out of beta. *cry
