Windows 10: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE when putting PC to sleep and/or when trying to update to 2004

Hi everyone,


Ever since I built my recent PC, I've been having issues with getting to enter sleep state.

Sometimes the monitor just turns off, but the computer still seems to be on with no possible way to wake the monitor back up until I either reset it, or get a random BSOD; usually something power-related as in title.


I've tried updating my PC to Windows 10/2004 tonight, and I got this BSOD again.

After digging around the net for a good couple of hours, I think I found that the culprit is "pci.sys" driver. I couldn't find more/specific information about other possible culprits.

What is this "general" pci.sys driver, and why is it screwing with my PC :/

I generally keep my system 100% up to date drivers-wise, and take good care of it :

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE BSOD after closing lid of laptop(sleep)

A few hours ago I had closed the lid of my laptop to put it to sleep. But after opening it again, I saw that the PC had shut down. WhoCrashed showed that there was a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error and listed ntoskrnl.exe.

How to Put PC to sleep

What is the fastest way to put pc into sleep mode? (Least amount of steps)

I want to put it in sleep mode and not sure best way. Can i create a shortcut for that?

Also, are the issues ironed out with win10 not coming back easily from sleep mode. Sometimes it is hard to wake them up and you have to restart.

UPDATE: 1231pm.. so i found a way.. i click start, then power, then find Sleep. That works.

Is there a faster way though? With my Lenovo pc, i can choose what power buttons do and one thing under power says choose what the sleep button does? it is like a circle half filled. WHere is this button? I asked Lenovo and waiting for an answer.

 

PC will not sleep - related to last Win10 update?

My PC will not sleep.

PowerCFG suggests it's MoUsoCoreWorker.exe which I believe is about updating Windows.

MoUsoCoreWorker.exe is a fundamental system file so deleting it is not really an option.

All my other settings relating to sleeping seem correct.

Any suggestions as to how to prevent MoUsoCoreWorker.exe from permanently waking up the PC?

Everything was fine up to the July update.
