Windows 10: Drivers for Roland/Edirol UA-4FX does not get installed automatically

This audio device has Windows 7 drivers and Windows 8.1 drivers, but I haven't been able to install it in Windows 10.


I have tried with the 8.1 drivers as they come and also in compatibility mode for W8, and also with the old W7 drivers. In each case it gets to the screen where you are supposed to plug in the interface and at this point it stops. It is almost as if the signal saying "the usb device has been connected" doesn't get to the driver installation program.


Is it possible to have good driver for windows 10?

I can't use it until I'll find the correct driver.

Windows update does not find them at all.

  Can you see any error code along with the message, while trying to create a recovery disk?
  

In order to create a recovery disk, follow the steps below;

• Type “Recovery” in search box and press Enter.
• Select the option to create a recovery disc and follow the prompts to create a recovery disc.

Win 10 broke my UA-4FX functionality!

My Roland Edirol UA-4FX audio/midi/usb interface worked great with w8.1 and immediately stopped working with W10. Very bad. Even worse, w10 can't install the w8.1 drivers due to inf file limits. And the inf file can't be modified without breaking the driver
signature ****.

This came up in w10 previews last April and is still not fixed. Roland hasn't updated their w8.1 drivers to work with w10, though apparently all that is needed is a simple inf txt update and a new driver signature.

So, in the absence of new drivers (needed only for w10!!!! in order to get the device functional), it has been suggested to disable the driver sig enforcement just to get a modified inf file driver loaded. Lo and behold, "Troubleshooting" has disappeared
from the Shift Restart to disable driver sig **** for just this install! Now there is apparently no way for users to disable the driver sig check. Even bcdedit didn't appear to work! And no doc's or help from M$oft to be found, other than outdated suggestions
that don't work in the released version of W10 without Troubleshooting. Correct me if I am wrong! Please.

So, let's make a recovery disk and see if it gets me to the Troubleshooting menu from an alternate boot device and the magic F7 key so I can install a simply modified inf file to get the driver working. This used to work on W10 previews and apparently up
until a recent update to W10. So, some of those folks before the 'update' reported getting the driver installed, but not any more.

Lo and behold, W10 CAN'T MAKE A RECOVERY DISK!!

"We can't create a recovery drive on this PC

Some required files are missing. ... use installation disc or media"

Will M$oft send these to me for W10?



Note that W10 didn't report any error msg's for the driver install, just left it hanging with a msg to wait (apparently forever). It also didn't even give a clue about why it didn't want to create a recovery disk (like what files might be missing or where
I might get them)! W10 installed and updated itself today, so it's a bit hard to believe that files are missing.

In two days I'm going back to w8.1. I can't wait to find out if my Axiom kbd driver, or worse yet MOTU microlite still work.

Just because it worked in W8.1 DOES NOT mean it will work in W10. Any suggestion of complete compatibility is a lie.

Well, that's the problem. I just want to listen to music with my PC again. Just like last night before I installed W10.

Please provide suggestions (other than wait another 6 months for Roland to update their drivers).

ps: I don't have time to chase the whole Recovery Disk problem, but that will be a killer for W10 in two days. If I can't create recovery media, W10 is a waste of time.

 

BSOD in Desktop

well, USB i have one printer (allways turn off when have BSOD) my default soundcard Edirol Roland UA-4fx, the speaker's logitech, mouse and keyboard.
And yes i have diferent models/brands of memory stick.
