Windows 10: Drop shadows on desktop font return after WIN+TAB or when snapping window to half the screen

I used the advanced system setting to remove drop shadows from the desktop font, unchecking "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop", but like so many other people, the drop shadows return after doing a WIN+TAB or when snapping any window to half the screen. Please get this message to Windows engineering to fix the bug! Also, I'm running the latest updates and have a GT 1030 graphics card.

Hi, Win 10 pro - can confirm I see that after using Snap. Normal function is restored if you restart explorer via the task manager.

Suggest you report it via the Feedback Hub app e.g.

- gives a relevant registry key; maybe it can be 'fixed' or worked around using that.

Thanks for these hints and also for pointing out that the proper name for what I meant was "snap" windows. I changed the thread title appropriately. *Smile
Will consider making that report and post any results back in this thread.

 

Drop shadow for desktop icon text font keeps coming back

I have unticked the drop shadow options in settings and the relevant registry item is set to 0.

When I reboot I get the desktop icon fonts WITHOUT drop shadow, but after a short while the drop shadows are back again.

How can I permanently disable the drop shadows for the desktop icon font?
