Windows 10: Dual boot Win10, Win2012R2 is prompting for BitLocker recovery key when booting into...

I got dual boot workstation Win10 Enterprise, Windows Server 2012 R2. Both OS's are on separate disks and corresponding partitions on the disk where OS is installed are encrypted with Bitlocker.


The Boot.ini details are

Windows 10 C:\WINDOWS Default OS

Windows 2012 R2 F:\Windows


Until a month ago, I could boot into both Operations Systems without any issues but after OS patching of Windows10, it now prompts for BitLocker Recovery Key everytime I boot into Win2012R2 no issues with booting into Win10.


Would it be possible that some security update on Win10 is preventing TPM module to save recovery keys or something else is preventing it and needs reset of something ?


I would prefer to not to de-crypt and re-encrypt the disks though I got the BitLocker recovery keys for both disks.

Please note that Windows 10 Home does not have a Bitlocker feature, however it can be embedded by manufacturer of the device. You can read more about it in the article:
BitLocker drive encryption in Windows 10 for OEMs. As you mentioned
that you are using dual boot, I would like to inform you that UEFI Secure Boot may have been toggled with a BIOS update. These generic instructions should allow you to locate the UEFI Secure Boot setting in most BIOS.

• Power the device off and then back on.
• Look for a message on the boot screen just before or after the manufacturer logo appears. You may need to press the “F1”,”F2”, or ”Delete” button, whatever key is indicated on the boot screen to enter BIOS Settings.
• Inside BIOS, look for a tab called BOOT and select that page.
  • Depending on the BIOS manufacturer this page could be BOOT, ADVANCED, STARTUP, etc.
• Look for a setting for UEFI Secure Boot.
  • Each BIOS could have a different name for this. These are the keywords to look for: UEFI, Secure Boot, Legacy Boot
• Please enable Secure boot

Hello, I have recently installed Ubuntu 16.04 using a flash drive USB on my Dell Inspiron 3567 in dual boot with Windows 10 Home single language that was already installed in my laptop since I bought it. I am using Windows 10 October update. After booting
the laptop with windows, it shows Bitlocker recovery key prompt and it shows it every time I restart my laptop. I don't want to enter that 48 character long key again and again. There is no Bitlocker settings option when right clicking on 'C' drive in "This
PC" and in control panel also. I want to disable this BitLocker recovery key prompt; its so annoying. Please help !

I have already enabled secure boot. And during installation of ubuntu, I didn't switch off the secure boot. I don't know why the windows boot loader showing Bitlocker recovery key prompts.
