Windows 10: Dual boot Windows 10 Laptop with Ubuntu Linux with no update issues

Planning to dual boot my Windows 10 laptop with Ubuntu. I did last time and it was partially successful but Windows 10 couldn't update itself. Any update failed with message that "Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer". Microsoft support ended for that last Windows 10 build and I removed the Linux and formatted the harddrive completely.
This time I would not like to get into that scenario where Windoww 10 update constatly fails with dual.
Any suggestions from people who is currently dual booting the laptop with Window 10 + Linux and Windows 10 update works properly?

Once I had Windows 10 RTM dual booting with Linux 17.2. No issue whatsoever.

Dual booting should be the same for everything or very similar at least.

Did you use any guides? It's a little complicated to explain step-by-step how to install a dual boot here but you can look at guides for ubuntu here>

The basic guide is to backup your data > create a disk with ubuntu on it > disable secure boot > Then boot from the USB > install ubuntu

It seems i need to unlock some settings in windows 10 to dual boot ubuntu.

What settings do i need to unlock?

After installation, i always want windows to boot by default, i don't choose option. Not linux.
