  1. Dual Monitor 4k @ 150 scaling + 2k @ 100% - Blurry Text

I am currently running 2 monitors in windows, one 2k, and one 4k. At the moment the only way I am able to get clear crisp text and icons is to run the 4k at 100% scaling. I am wanting to run the 4k @ 150% OR at 2k but It makes some apps blurry (task manager). I am just wondering if there is a way to run the 4k at the same resolution as the 2k without making the text blurry on my 4k monitor? Note, my 2k is my main display.

    Windows 10 monitor scaling blurry

    Circumstances

    • Windows 10 Version 1709 x64
    • One 4K (27") and one 2K (27") monitor
    • Nvidia 1050 TI

Feel free to ask for more information, if you need them.

    The Problem

Everything works fine if I don't use the Scaling option of Windows 10 (Settings > System > Display > Scale and layout). However, if I don't use the scaling function, the content on the 4K monitor is very very small.

If I do use the scaling function as recommended (150% for the 4K monitor, 100% for the 2K one), it looks good in general. However, in some applications (Outlook, IntelliJ, ...) the content on the 2K monitor is veary blurry. While there might be a fix for the programs in specific (even though I wasn't able to do this), I'd like a general fix for this problem.

Furthermore, when I use the 4K monitor scaled by 150%, Windows doesn't seem to be quite able to measure the correct size. That means, if I'm at the top right corner of the 4K monitor, at which a maximized window is open, I don't click at the closing button, but slightly above it. This is not that much of a problem though, I could adapt to it.

    What I've tried

    • I tried running the programs (I tested it with IntelliJ) with Override high DPI scaling behaviour set to System and System (Enhanced), while using the recommended Windows scaling options
      • The programs controls are as tiny as if I hadn't scaled the monitor at all
    • I tried scaling both monitors by the same factor (125%)
      • The controls on the 2K monitor are terribly huge
      • The controls on the 2K monitor still look a little bit blurry, but not as much as before
    • I tried this tool
      • The same effect as with scaling both monitors by the same factor
    • I tried setting my 2K monitor as primary monitor
      • The contents on the 2K monitor are blurry
    • I (obviously) tried logging out and restarting my computer for each option I tried
    • I tried some specific solutions for IntelliJ (which didn't work), but I don't think they're relevant here

  3. Dual Monitor Setup issues - 4k and 1080p combination

The issue is worse than it seems at first. I have a 4k display (200%) scaling and a 1080p display (100% scaling) and even office apps look blurry on the 1080p display. If I unplug the 4k display and reboot the problem goes away. I believe the problem is
present on all apps and is a system issue. It's been suggested that to get the 100% scaling everything on both monitors is generated at 200% and then the part on the 1080p display is downsampled to 100%, resulting in the poor quality.

As it is Windows 10 is almost unusable with a very different DPI dual monitor setup.

    Dual Monitor 4k @ 150 scaling + 2k @ 100% - Blurry Text

Windows scaling 4K fine, but after restart blurry??

Hi, i have an Asus PB287Q, an 28" 4K Monitor. So far i am using the Windows 10 scaling on 150% and it looks gorgous. Only a few scaling issues, but Office 2016 and Chrome which i use most, scale perfectly fine. But the strange thing
is, after i shut down the computer and start it up again, Word and Chrome are blurry. I check the Windows display settings and its still on 150%, but says "some apps won't respond to scaling until you sign out". Well thats odd, thats usually what it says if
you change the scaling slider from i.e. 100% to 150%. But the thing is, i didn't change anything. The scaling setting is 150% before i shut down the computer and is still 150% when it boots up again. But now i have to sign out every time i boot up the computer
to restore the blurry programs to their glory. If i restart the computer, no problem whatsoever. So this only happens after a shutdown. Anybody had a similar problem and found a fix? Thanks for any help Dual Monitor 4k @ 150 scaling + 2k @ 100% - Blurry Text :D

Tl:dr I have a scaling setting of 150%. After i shutdown my computer and boot it back up, the setting is unchanged, but the programs appear blurry until i sign out and in again. Doesn't happen on reboots only on complete shutdowns.

    EDIT:

I did some more testing and i think I left out some vital information. I have a second screen 24" 1080p hooked up as well. Since Windows 10 allows for different scaling values on each monitor, i have set this one to 100% and the 4k one to 150%. And i think
this is some what responsible for the problem.

Setting both monitors to same scaling value, in my case 150%, and the problem is gone. Shutdown, Boot up, and everything looks perfect.

Well, they only problem now is, that i have a 24" 1080p monitor set to 150% scaling, which makes it a bit less useful.

So has anybody a better idea which would get rid of the blurry programs and would allow for different scaling values on each monitor? Any advice will be appreciated Dual Monitor 4k @ 150 scaling + 2k @ 100% - Blurry Text :D
