Windows 10: Dual monitor BSOD when waking up or turning off main monitor.

As the title says, I get a BSOD every time I either turn off my main monitor or wake up my pc from sleep it seems like the second monitor wakes up first, and it "counts" as if my main monitor got turned off or something. Monitor will not wake from sleep

When my PC wakes from sleep it always used to wake the monitor as well but now when the PC wakes the monitor does not respond. The only way to solve the problem is to do a hard reset of the PC. The PC is definitely waking from sleep. it is just the monitor.

I have read multiple forums trying to find a solution but nothing seems to work. things I have tried:

• updating BIOS
  
• restoring Windows
  
• running Windows Update
  
• trying a different monitor
  
• checking monitor settings
  
• turning off Fast Startup
  
• Running Troubleshooter Power
  
• turning off Link State Power Management
  
• Restarting in Safe Mode
  
• Updating and Rolling Back the display adaptor
  
• checking that keyboard and mouse can wake the PC
  
• probably a few more that I have forgotten

BSOD every time I wake monitors

I have 2 brand new Dell Optiplex 3050s running the latest version of Windows 10 (1709, build 16299.192) that I'm having issues with.

Both of them have dual monitors set up using onboard graphics and every time the monitors go to sleep and I wake them I get the same BSOD on both machines.

Stop code: APC_INDEX_MISMATCH

What failed: igdkmd64.sys

I googled the "what failed" part of that and saw some posts saying it may have to do with the intel graphics driver but I've already updated it to the latest one. Any other suggestions?

 

Dual Monitor Does not wake up from sleep

To further troubleshoot the dual monitor issue, we suggest that you try the following workaround:

• Check the cable connection of your monitor. Try to test if the issue will still persist after using a different cable.
• Change the Turn off the display time in the
  Power Options. We suggest selecting a longer timeframe from the drop-down menu and check if you will still encounter the issue.
• If you are using a USB mouse and keyboard, you can also change its settings and see if it helps. To get started, open the
  Device Manager > locate the mouse/keyboard
  then click it to expand > right-click mouse/keyboard
  and click Properties > Select Power Management
  tab > add a check mark on Allow this device to wake the computer.

Once you have tried all of these, let us know the end result.
