Windows 10: Dual monitor taskbars keep swapping?

Hey all,

I've recently picked up a second monitor. I was able to pretty easily figure out how to unlock the taskbar at the bottom and move it to the rightmost screen's bottom right corner (as opposed to the left, where it was sitting), and relock them.

However, every once in a while (I can't really pin down yet any particular causes-- maybe it's restarts?) I'll find that they've switched again, so I have to unlock, move, and relock them again. Is there any fix for this?

Dual Monitor Problem


Overall I'm delighted with Windows 10 but I have one relatively minor problem with my dual monitors. The taskbar on the second monitor won't auto-hide. It just sits there.

Any suggestions?

Please let us know which build are you currently in?

If you are in build number: 14342, I suggest you to follow the steps below to
hide taskbar on second monitor and check if it helps:

• 
  Right click on the Taskbar and Go to
  settings.
  
• 
  Click on the taskbar option.
  
• 
  Under Multiple displays you can turn off the option for
  Show taskbar on all displays.

In order to get better clarity, please let us know:

  How are the monitors connected to the computer?
  
• 
  Are you aware of any changes made to the computer prior to this issue?
  
• 
  What is the make and model of the computer?
  
• 
  Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  

You may want to try swapping the cables and ports of the monitors and see if that helps.



I suggest you to reset the power options to default and see if that helps. Please follow the steps mentioned
below:

1. 
   Press
   Windows key + R, to open Run box.
   
2. 
   Type
   control and click on OK.
   
3. 
   Select
   Large icons from the drop down for View by.
   
4. 
   Now, click on
   Power Options.
   
5. 
   Click on
   Change plan settings for the current selected plan.
   
6. 
   Now, click on
   Restore default settings for this plan, click on Yes if you receive any prompt.
