Windows 10: Dual monitor wallpaper settings. Want them to be the same.

I've got a dual monitor PC running the now released windows 10. Everything about it went very smoothly, right up until I tried to change the background. At first both screens had the same image (that cool windows 10 logo with light beams picture). But of course that wasn't sufficient, so I changed it. I liked that windows 7 would rotate my wallpapers with pictures in my photo library. So I dug in and made the necessary changes, and.... then I hit an odd snag.


The two screens were showing different background pictures. At first it was cool! I was blown away. I never even thought about changing the wallpapers separately! But, I'm a creature of habit. And having that second monitor with a different wallpaper was getting on my nerves. Now, I know I can change both wallpapers to be the same picture. BUT, I'm greedy and want it all! I want it to also show the slideshow of all the photos.... one at a time, on both screens, at once.


I've searched all over looking for an answer, only to find 100+ ways of making the screens show different wallpapers (the exact opposite of what I want). Any ideas on how to get around this? Or is this the kind of thing that Microsoft will have to deal with?


On a side note, whenever I right click the desktop and ask windows to skip ahead to the next desktop background, it does one screen only. I have to do it again and then the other screen will change. If they HAVE to be separate, I'd at least like some control over them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

slideshow on windows 10 dual monitor setting

hello all,

I was using windows 8.1 and upgraded to windows 10 .

my problem is, I am using dual monitor setting and want to use slideshow wallpapers and

back when i was using 8.1, slideshow changed wallpaper of each monitor and

now with 10, both screen shares the same wallpaper and slides both at the same time.

Is there any way to make this slide show thing work like way it used to without 3rd party programs?

I appreciate if you could walk me through how and from which location you're trying to set the Background wallpaper for Dual Monitor. Before you do that, try with the below steps and check if it works.

* Open ThisPC,

* Navigate to C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows

* Now Copy and paste the two wallpapers into the Windows folder,
which you want to set for dual monitors.

* Then select the two image at the same time, right-click and select Set as desktop background.

Once you do this, you can able to see two different wallpaper on desktop screens. Check and let me know if it works.

Keep us posted if you require further assistance.

Well, I'm glad it's not just me.

 

Yes, I have a 3 monitor set up and have the same issues. Honestly, it annoys me so bad than I might switch back to Windows 7 just for this reason!!

 

What happens if you use the "Tile" option in the "Choose a fit" dropdown on the Personalization page?

 

It DOES only show 1 picture across the monitors, but the tiling makes it all messed up and you can see the seems. CLose, but still so far from the answer.!

 

hmm... odd that tiling the background does that. Sadly, I've been collecting backgrounds since windows ME, so the resolutions are all over the place. Making the tile option perfect for anyone with a folder filled with matched resolution wallpapers. Kind of a horror to look at otherwise.

I've been tinkering around with different ways of setting wall papers for multiple desktop displays.

I have concluded that using Windows to do this is cumbersome, inconsistent and buggy.

Download the free program at the link above and get complete control over how each monitor is set up.
It works just fine on Windows 10 and seems to be reliable and effective.

 

Interesting.... I have downloaded the program and tried it out. It's..... not very intuitive. In fact it's downright ugly. It works as advertised though. It is free, and contains no viruses as far as I can tell. As for daily use.... this might work for many people. I will have to pass on this as a viable solution however as this app seems just as buggy (if not more so) than windows.

The issue I have with it specifically, is that many of my wallpapers cause the program to give me an error when I try to change to them.





In the picture you can see the app running in the tray (it's the little blue dual screen icon in the system tray) And you can see that it has let me put up the same image on both monitors. But about 50% of the time, when I ask for it to change backgrounds, I get this little generic error.

I'll continue using the app though, it solves more issues than it creates. Optimally, there will be a fix soon from microsoft. Lacking that, a program like this one that is easier to use, is not as buggy, and has some sort of windows integration might be what I'm looking for.

Than again, maybe I'm just picky.

 

The setting in Windows - Personalization - Background is :
Choose a fit: SPAN

It display large images across monitors. Now if I could find a 3 monitor panorama!

 

only works right if you have pictures that are that wide.... most of mine are not nearly that wide. and the 2 or 3 that are, are also just as tall, meaning the top and bottom of the pictures get cut off. * le sigh *

I also remember using a photo editing software and doing a manual patch. But the system just using your stock and spanning 1 or more across would be nice I guess also.
