    Dualscreen Background Problem

So I've had this problem for a while but I've had enough. I've searched everywhere and can't even find anyone else who has my problem so I've made an account for the sole purpose of hopefully finally solving my problem.

As hard as I try, I can't seem to get my two screens to display a different background image (on both slideshow or just one different on each). Yes my screen setup is extended, for some reason windows sees both monitors as "Monitor 2" (see pics).

Background customisation setup (accessed via: Run > control /name Microsoft.Personalization /page pageWallpaper)

Does anyone know any way (besides a complete reset of windows) that might fix this so I can have a different background on each screen rather that the same?

    :)

    Laptop/Monitor Dualscreen Problem

    Hi Haydn,

We apologize for the delayed response.

It is possible that this issue is related to the graphics device driver. For us to properly isolate this issue, we'd like to ask some questions:

    • Have you tried reinstalling or updating the graphics device driver?
    • What type of connection are you using to connect your laptop to an external monitor?

In addition, you can also refer to the article we have provided below as your reference to isolate this similar issue:

Windows scaling issues for high-DPI devices

We're looking forward to your response.

  3. Laptop/Monitor Dualscreen Problem

    Hello, thanks for the response.

A night after finding this problem, I went onto the Help hub and with the help of a technician we reinstalled the graphic device driver. I am currently using a HDMI cable to link the laptop and the screen together.

Before I had made this post, I hadn't taken in more technical details. My laptop screen is 15.6" and my external monitor (a BenQ GL2450H) is 24". Photoshop is the only program that seems to rescale itself to the size of the monitor even when I am disconnected
from it. So I have a Photoshop interface scaling to 24" on a 15.6" screen. I have tried the internal Photoshop UI rescale options, but to no avail. I have asked on the Adobe forums how to fix this, but no one gave me many helpful responses.

I have tried running this Process Explorer suggested in the link you gave me, and found that Photoshop opens as 'per-monitor aware', whatever that means.

Hope this helps in finding answers to solve the problem,

    Haydn

    Dualscreen Background Problem

Hate to say it but harkening back to Win8/8.1 and its Charms bar there didn't seem to be a way to get different backgrounds. Might be possible if using 2 different video/display adapters but don't see that in your System Specs.

You'll need a 3rd party software for that......Display Fusion and MultMonitor are the 2 best known. I've used and bought Display fusion.

I tried DisplayFusion, worked like a charm! Thank you very much. Weird that they would remove this functionality from Windows though.

  7. What's odd is that I had this same ability (different image on each monitor for background) without issues when I was running W10 fast ring. I re-installed and rolled back to the stable builds and it worked for quite some time. Then a couple of updates ago (Either Windows or Nvidia, not sure), it just stopped working.
I cannot get it to function natively again. At the same time, I can barely get Windows to actually use my screensaver collection right now. It refuses to read images in sub-folders.

DisplayFusion is awesome software, if you can afford to spend money on it. Truly though, there should be a native method for doing this, as I had it functioning previously without 3rd party software.
