Windows 10: Duplicate Accounts

Hi,I have duplicate Microsoft account one which I created with my cell number when I signed into Windows on a new computer I got this week and another previous account I had associated with my email. Can I merge the accounts?

When you open the settings and navigate on the account settings, how many account did you see?

Kindly follow the steps below and check how many accounts is registered in your Windows computer.

Press windows key + R

Type: netplwiz

Press enter.

User accounts will appear, check how many accounts are listed.

If there are any duplicate accounts on your computer even if they use the same Microsoft account, then the duplicate account should appear on the list.

If there are 2 accounts listed, verify which is the duplicate account and remove it.

Kindly ensure to back up all your files first before doing the process to avoid data loss.

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:
