Duplicate entries in Device manager leading to "This device cannot start. Code 10 error" on...

I have recently purchased a new Windows 11 laptop Thinkpad T14 Gen 5 AMD, but when connect my existing audio interface Numark Scratch it does not show as an available audio device. In device manager, I see 2 entries for the Numark Scratch - one which has an exclamation mark. When i check the properties of this device, it's giving me the "This device cannot start. Code 10" error. This appears to be using the USB Audio 2 driver the manufacturer is showing as Microsoft. The other entry in device manager which is not showing an error appears to be using a Generic USB audio driver. The Nu

  2. “This device cannot start” Code 10 error in Device Manager after upgrade to Windows 10.

    Hello Gurpreet,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. We will assist you in resolving the issue.

A Code 10 error is generated in Device Manager in one of the following situations:

    • Device Manager cannot start the device.

    • One of the drivers that the device needs does not start.

    • Device Manager has insufficient information to recognize the error that is bubbled up by the device driver.

Note: In this situation, the Code 10 error can be a very generic message that indicates some kind of unspecified driver or device problem.

I suggest you to refer to the link below on Fix: “This device cannot start” Code 10 error in Device Manager in Windows
and check if it helps in resolving the issue.

    Duplicate entries in Device Manager

    Jeff here...

I run a new PC computer with Windows 10 Pro.

Under Device Manager there are many devices that have duplicate entries.

The duplicates use different usb designation number ie "usb 1" "usb 2"

I have read multiple "QUESTIONS" previously asked here and none of you actually ever address this. or answer it.

No update has fixed this & I suspect it is not broken.

IS This "phenomenon" due to the way we are not actually in charge of our system.

We are really a "guest admin" working in a segregated bubble thing..??

I Mean, the mouse attached shows an entry & also the 'virtual' Mouse I'm Really Using in My BUBBLE also Gets an entry.

Its is a symptom of this protection, yes..??

Because IT LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE HAS THEIR OWN KEYBOARD & MOUSE

PLUGGED INTO MY PC... OFF SOME WHERE ELSE IN THE EITHER... BUT, that isn't true Duplicate entries in Device manager leading to "This device cannot start. Code 10 error" on... :) Right Duplicate entries in Device manager leading to "This device cannot start. Code 10 error" on... :)

I net if you actually look at your own device manager, you'd find the same 'Ghosts' entries.

Thanks, Jeffy Duplicate entries in Device manager leading to "This device cannot start. Code 10 error" on... :)
