Windows 10: Duplicate File Finder on 1 external hard drive

Hello to the brains trust. Sorry for being a pain but as an "older" person aged pensioner, I have spent some time trying to find some software like Auslogics Duplicate File finder software which is great and free to use. I have 2 internal hard drives and it worked well but I can not seem to find out how to or even if I can scan the 1 external 1TB hard drive to see if it can look for duplicates on the files on the one drive. If there is something someone can recommend that will do this that is free or at least not expensive given the exchange rate between USA and Australia is not in Aust

External drives are duplicated in File Explorer on Windows 11.

Pls try the steps (or the registry fix remove-duplicate-drives.reg to automate the task) to resolve the issue.

Finding duplicate images is extremely hard . . .

It depends an the criteria the software uses to find duplicates, file name, file size, meta data, pixel to pixel comparison, visual similarity . . . etc.

So the questions I would ask of the software developer are:

• what criteria is that software using to compare images
• can you change the comparison criteria with that software

Ultimate Duplicate Photo Finder not being able to find duplicates is not a Windows issue, rather an issue with the software you are using, namely Ultimate
Duplicate Photo Finder!

 

External Hard Drive

Hi John,

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.
