  1. Duplicate software entries in Volume Mixer

I had the same issue as

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/duplicate-software-entries-in-volume-mixer/4ed03819-145b-4457-8229-333aa415d834

I had four iterations of Cisco Webex meeting, and a new one would populate whenever that program was closed and re-opened

I tried to reply on the original thread, but that thread is locked. There is a much simpler solution.

    Ctrl-Alt-Del > Task Manager > Services
    Right-click Audiosrv - Stop
    Right-click AudioEndpointBuilder - Stop
    Right-click Audiosrv - Start

Any duplicates leftover apps that didn't close audio correctly will be gone.

  2. Duplicate software entries in Volume Mixer

The problem is as stated in the title.

In this specific case, only Firefox is appearing as a duplicate, but I have seen other programs duplicating themselves like this in the Volume Mixer(tho, never to this degree, which is why I'm posting now), Spotify and Discord being other programs which
tends to do this. Discord may do this even if it has played no sound at all.

I have an external sound card from Creative, Sound Blaster something something (Model SB1240) and the drivers it came with. Have not found any similar issues by means of googling, so I am uncertain whether to post it here or elsewhere, but here is a good place
    to start regardless.

    EDIT:

The duplicate entries did not disappear after closing Firefox.

  3. Duplicate software entries in Volume Mixer

    1 - Done

    2 - Done

3 - Done, with the exception of 1-4, 8 and 10-13 on the second list, as I fail to see how changing volume or the frequency of the audio is supposed to help in my case and that I've been asked to run the Audio troubleshooter quite a few times already by this
    point.

4 - I'm not sure what you're asking me to do here. I can hear sound just fine, it's just that I get multiple entries of the same application in the Volume Mixer.

5 - Done, really. I've been asked to run it so many times already.

    6 - No rollback available.

7 - It just installs a generic Microsoft driver, it kinda works, but I lose some functions and settings.

8 - Due to a lack of newer drivers, there have been no older drivers installed on this system for this device, as for finding older ones on Creative's site, it's hard enough to find the current one.

9 - Do not know if caused by Windows Updates, as it's been present since at least December 2019, and the system is from mid-November, so it might have been present from Day 1.

    10 - Same as above

11 - System Restore disabled. And read 9.

12 - Are you seriously asking me to go through my whole system, even things unrelated to audio?

13 - I am not doing a reinstall, the system is far too young for that.

    No changes.
