Windows 10: Duplicate subfolders in User folder

Thanks for the additional info. It sounds that it might not only be Google Drive but any number of file syncing/cloud programs. I think OneDrive couldn't be one of the culprits as it comes with Win10 and so I would have expected this issue to be wider spread. Perhaps Google Drive and Box have issues as Microsoft have managed to resolve them for OneDrive.

As far as files that aren't synced still resulting in duplicate entries - its making me think there is something else at play.

I'm left scratching my head about how to resolve this.

 

Hey Brink ... Yes .. setting it to NOT show hidden files and folders took care of the duplicate display ... I wonder if the "problem" lies in Windows File Virtualization".

We ran into the virtualization problem when debugging one of our programs and its interaction with our database at a clients site.

In a nutshell, windows (since to our knowledge Win7), will create virtual files which are tucked away and when you think your program is interacting with the database file you installed on the system, it is actually working with a virtual copy that is DIFFERENT for different users .... YIKES*Eek

Google "File Virtualization Hell" and it should have a lot of discussion of the woes that FV has caused.

If these hidden duplicates have shortcut arrows on them, then they are only links used for backwards compatibility and are not actually duplicates.

 

No shortcut arrows were on mine .... strange
