Windows 10: Duplicate User folders and files

I sent my laptop off to Costco repair for a warranty problem -- the hinge had broken. For some reason unknown to me, they reloaded Windows. Not sure what that had to do with the hinge, but at least I can use the laptop again. Anyway, I now have multiple Documents, Pictures, Music, AppData... folders. If I create a file, it shows up in all three so far I've only found 3. If I delete a file in any one of them, it deletes it in all of them. But, they don't appear to be shortcuts. If I look at properties at any of the levels, the file path shows the top level, not the lower levels.OneDrive is un

Duplicate User folder.

I moved my default Pictures, Documents, Music folders to a new Data partition (D).

My Users/myName folder remained on the C partition.

Everything was fine for 2 years.

For some reason this myName folder is now duplicated on the D partition (D\myName)

I have now a default documents folder in

• D\Documents
• D\myName\Documents
• Onedrive\Documents
• C\Users\myName\Documents

The same with the other system folders.

I can not change the location of the folders in the 2 duplicate user folders.

Rightclicking in properties, there is no location option.

Only the folders in OneDrive and the D partition have this option.

Any ideas?

I would suggest you to run a troubleshooter that will automatically retrieve your personal files from the
Windows.oldfolder and copy them back to their original location.



To check if files are in Windows.old folders. Follow the steps below to do so:

• Enter Computer in the search box, and then tap or click
  Computer in the search results.
• Double-tap or double-click the drive that Windows is installed on (typically, the C: drive).
• Double-tap or double-click the Windows.old folder.
• Double-tap or double-click the Users folder.
• Double-tap or double-click your user name.
• Open the folders that contain the files you want to retrieve

onedrive duplicating my folders...

Hi.

Again, onedrive is going crazy and is duplicating my main folder, full of subfolders. It's locking me out of all my files. I have windows 10, Office 365 home. I paused synch at the moment before I have 1000 copy of my folder, which I can't open anyway!
Please don't ask me any question that will further delay the repair. Simply give me a step by step solution and then improve onedrive so this won't happen again to so many of us. I suggest you also add "onedrive" in the list of "Windows Topics" below since
thousands of users have issues with it.
