    Attempting to use the Windows 7 backup/restore to restore a dual boot win10/win7 system image on a Dell Precision M6600 laptop. However, when using the Win 7 disc to restore from the backup file on an external HD, the Win 7 install disc does not recognize the USB ports; thus unable to find the system backup image file.While using the laptop in either Win 7 or Win 10 mode USB ports work fine. However when booting off the Win 7 install media disc, and using the 'repair computer' option to restore from the backup file, the USB ports are inactive; unable to see the external USB HD where the backu

    • The connection is via a cable where one end is a DVI port connected to monitor and the other end is a HDMI port connected to laptop
    • My other laptop, Dell XPS 15 with Ubuntu 20 - recognizes the external monitor.
    • Before upgrading to Windows 11, problematic laptop (Dell Precision 7560) had Windows 10, and external monitor was recoginzed.

    USB settings in Power Plan Options on Windows 10 is missing, how to restore it?

    As per the below suggested steps I am trying to disable the USB in USB selective suspend setting in my Dell laptop with Windows 10 Home. however, I do not find the USB Settings at all in two modes Balanced mode or Dell (Active) mode under change advanced
    power settings. How to restore it?

    USB Selective Suspend Settings, follow the steps below:

    1. Press Windows + X.
    2. Choose Power Options.
    3. Select Choose when to turn off the display.
    4. Open Change advanced power settings.
    5. Expand USB settings and USB selective suspend setting.
    6. Select Enabled (default) or Disabled.
    7. Click Apply, then OK.
