Windows 10: DVD burner now showing in windows or device manager

Hi
for some strange reason the DVD writer; CDRW is not showing up in windows or in device manager. Inserting a DVD has no reaction whatsoever from the laptop.

i have tried says file checker , looked for the relevant upper registry entries, but found none. Have unplugged and reinserted the CDRW just in case.. also ran the hardware troubleshooter.

i desperation I have wiped the HDD and clean installed W10 Home 32 BIT. But made no difference.

i the device manager there isn’t even a heading for CD / DVD/RW, thought this should be there even if unpopulated !!!

any help would really be appreciated

No DVD Burner in win10


Hi. Thank you for your quick response. I downloaded the suggested programme and was able to produce the necessary VOB files. I could not get the burner to work however. Although the programme recognises my burner as per screen, my PC tell me to insert a disc. I have used both my H and I drives, and also tried DVD+RW and DVD-R, both of which are compatible with the programme. Bree ( a forum guru), also suggested using DVD style.I downloaded that but got the same result. I know that you may not be clued up on the particular software, could there be an issue with the drives? when I check the device manager, things seem to be okay. I just feel that I am missing a step somewhere. When I used win 7, I didnt think about what I was doing, it just happened

lost Lite-on CD/DVD burner suddenly


My CD/DVD burner disappeared from the File Explorer, Device Manager, and Computer management two days ago. Today I found it in the device manager by looking under "hidden devices". Following instructions from the Microsoft site I uninstalled the driver and restarted the computer as instructed but this failed and now the device doesn't show under the Device Manager-DVD/CD-ROM devices. I have googled all over to find a driver for it. {Lite-on iHAS324-09A} . Even Lite-on wants me to buy a program to detect and update my drivers and if Lite-on has the drivers on site I sure can't find any. I expect that I could likely buy a new CD/DVD burner just as cheap. I downloaded a couple but have yet to see the CD/DVD burner listed. I am dual booted and it did show In Linux Mint and I could look at a CD's contents. I have spent hours on this and now am completely lost as to what to do next.
