    DVD disk drive no where to be found.


    Hello guys,

    I am using windows 10.One day when I start my laptop the dvd drive partiotion icon which is usually asign letter D is absent. So I search for help online. As shown online I didn't found disk drive option in computer managenment. Even I changed registry keys. I have tried everything possible thing but I didn't get any success until now.I checked my hardware which also don't have any issues, there is nothing about dvd drive in computer management so I can't do about drivers.What should I do?

    DVD/ CD Drive doesn't recognise disks

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it fixes the issue.

    Method 1: Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

    Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

    • Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting.
    • Select Troubleshooting.
    • Select View all on the top left corner.
    • Click Hardware and Devices.
    • Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.
    Method 2: Check if the DVD drive is getting detected in Disk Management

    Refer the steps below to open disc management:

    • Press Windows key + X.
    • Click on Disk Management.
    • Click on Actions and click on rescan disks and click on
      Refresh and check if issue persists.
    If there is no drive letter assigned, I suggest you right click on the DVD drive and assign a drive letter and check if it helps:

    Method 3

    Try to access the computer manufacturer's website and download the latest chipset drivers for your computer and install the same.

    DVD Drive issues.

    The games used to run, now apparently the disks don't even read.

    Go to Device Manager and remove the DVD
    Scan for hardware changes and update driver as OS suggests

    Still not working?

    1) Clean the heads.
    2) Run a diagnostic program on the drive.

    Nothing else has changed about your system aside from the OS?

    Revert to XP Home, assuming you don't find the source of the problem in steps above.

    DVD disk drive no where to be found.

    DVD drive not in Device Manager and will not read DVD Disks

    the dvd drive is not listed in the Device Manager list and the drive it self will not read dvd disks
