Windows 10: DVD drive does not working even eject button isn't working

Last few weeks are terrible to me because my laptop is working crazy and now the DVD drive doesn't work but it is shown in the bios menu as sata atapi port 1Manufacturer : ASUSModel : P550LDIntel core i5-4200U8GB 1Rx8 PC3LNVIDIA GeForce GT 820M

Printer isn´t working after latest update.

After the latest update from Windows, my Canon Pixma ip6600 printer isnt working. In Device Manager it shows up as working properly but when I go to print it isn´t listed as an option in any programs. Troubleshoot suggests it´s a USB 2 printer on a USB
3 port and that that´s the problem but that cant be since it worked fine before the update. I´ve tried to uninstall and plug it back in but that doesn´t work either.

 

DVD drive not ejecting

I am an Independent Advisor. Try ejecting it through file explorer.

1. Open file explorer.

2. Navigate to This PC.

3. Right click on the "DVD drive".

4. Choose "eject" option from the context menu.

5. It will automatically eject.

If that didn't work then laptops have a force eject pinhole on their DVD drives. Use that pinhole to force eject the DVD drive.

DVD Drive won't eject manually !

Hi Brian, my name is Neil, I'm an independent adviser and a Windows 10 user like you.

Sorry you're having this problem with your DVD drive.

However, I'm pleased to say that this is not a Windows, software or driver issue.

If you were having a driver issue, then your situation would be reversed. As in you would not be able to eject your drive by right clicking the DVD drive menu and it would only eject by pressing the manual eject button.

When your manual eject button doesn't work, it's normally down to dust and other particulates that prevent it from working. Especially if you haven't used it in a long time.

Normally the computer does not even need to be booted up to eject the drive with the manual eject button, it only needs to be receiving power, hence why this definitely isn't a software related issue, as the software doesn't even need to be running to manually
eject a DVD drive. And as we know, your software is working fine anyway, since you have used it to eject your drive and it did.

I have dual DVD drives in my computer that i rarely use nowadays. One of them always fails to manually eject. It makes noises like it wants to eject, but gets stuck. So my manual eject button does work, but it doesn't eject. However, eject it from a right click
menu eject always seems to work....which doesn't make much sense since they are both eject procedures.

My other drive won't eject at all from the manual button. I have to use the menu. Both drives get very clogged with dust (pets!!) and I'm pretty sure this is what prevents the button from working.

So it seems like you manual eject button might be in need of a clean/vacuum. Computers are like mini vacuum cleaners themselves, sucking in air, so it's a good idea to give them a good clean and vacuum them to remove dust and debris every so often. A can of
compressed air is also a good idea to blow out any nooks and crevices where dirt gets stuck or it's difficult to clean.

Anyway, just wanted to make you aware that this is not a windows or driver issue, it's a manual button issue.
