Windows 10: DVD drive

Sometimes when I insert something in my USB port(slot) my DVD drive will disappear and I have to reboot the computer to get it back. Anybody got any ideas of what's going on, so weird.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

So, the Fall Creators Update has been released yesterday, but I haven't even been prompted for the Creators Update yet. My pc is not that old, bought it last summer. I have no idea as to why I'm still running version 1607 or wether it's safe for me to upgrade
to either one of these newer versions. Will it screw up my drivers if I do? I am running Windows 10 Pro btw.

Any input would be appreciated.

 

DVD drive label not displaying correctly

When I assign the SD Drive to any other letter (say G it shows in explorer as "USB Drive (G"

When I assign the DVD Drive to G: it shows in explorer as "DVD RW Drive (G"

When I assign the SD Drive to E: it shows as "SD Drive (E"

When I assign the DVD drive to E: it shows as "DVD RW Drive (E SD Drive"

If I assign the dvd drive to G and the SD drive to E at the same time (or vice versa), the same thing happens with the display names in explorer.

 

Is it possible you've allocated the USB drive the same drive letter as your DVD drive?

(You can allocate a USB drive a drive letter in Disk Management- this is remembered for 1 drive per letter - very useful e.g. when connecting backup drives).

Personally, I set my DVD drive as Z: when I first configure my system.

 

No the drive letters are different. A bad driver maybe?
