Windows 10: DVD from External DVD Player not working

Hello,I have an external dvd player hooked to my laptop by USB, neither Windows Media Player, nor VLC Media Player can play the dvd. The microsoft support person said the codec was not supported. The DVD shows up in my folder, but can't play.

Burned DVD's Work in SOME players

In that case, it is possible the problem is with the blu ray player not supporting DVD+R disks.

Suggest you check to make sure: it's possible you can overcome this problem by simply burning DVD-R instead of DVD+R. Check your blu ray compatibility list first.
