Windows 10: DVD Player missing program

Hi,


Since the January 2021 update my DVD player will not work. I get a message that says the program is missing. Windows Media Player is working fine. I can play CD's but not DVD's.


Yes, I still watch DVD movies, I own over 100 of them and since we are on lockdown, I need my entertainment.


Please help me resolve this issue to prevent MS from changing it again.

Your local programs on the computer shouldn't be affected by the issue that you were informed about unless changes on the system or updates affected them. To understand this better and resolve the problem, please answer some things:

• Did the problem start after installing updates on the computer?
• Do you get any errors when using Windows DVD Player?

Burned DVD's Work in SOME players

In that case, it is possible the problem is with the blu ray player not supporting DVD+R disks.

Suggest you check to make sure: it's possible you can overcome this problem by simply burning DVD-R instead of DVD+R. Check your blu ray compatibility list first.

 

Free DVD burner Program?

Can anyone recomend a free DVD burner program? I just want to put my downloaded movies onto a dvd so i can watch them on my dvd player on the tv. Ive downloaded many programs from download.com but they dont seem to work and just put the movies on a disk that can only work on the computer and not on the tv because the dvd player says its unrecognized. any suggestions? thanks
