Windows 10: DVD PLAYER PLDS DVD+-RW DU 8A5LH will it work with O.S. 11 ? NOT WORKING

DVD PLAYER not playing DVD. PLDS DVD+-RW DU 8A5LH . O.S. is windows 11 . Does it need an updated driver? What do I do? Thank-you, shirley 3.4.25

Windows 10 Won't Burn CD's or DVD's BUT Plays CDs/DVDs HELP!

Thanks. Just checking. Its specs are: PLDS DU-8A5LH CD DVD+/-RW Drive Burner - SATA

If it was my laptop, I'd remove the drive from Device Manager, and let the laptop re-detect it. I'm not hopeful about that, but it should do no harm.

 

PLDS DVD+-RW DU-8A5LH not recognized as writable on Win10 system (Device type DVD/CD-ROM).

Went to burn files to DVD on my new system only to find that it looks at my DVD-RW drive as Standard CD-ROM.

My first inclination is to simply uninstall the device and let Win10 reinstall, hopefully with the correct driver.

But then I thought I should check in here first.

Any suggestions?

If you have already updated the firmware and BIOS and checked the registry settings, then it is possible that the drive itself is malfunctioning or damaged. However, you can try the following steps to see if they help:

Check the device manager to see if the drive is recognized as a DVD drive. If not, right-click on it and select "Update driver."

Try uninstalling the drive in the device manager and then restarting your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver when it starts up again.

Or you can try downloading and installing the firmware update from Dell's website. Please follow the instructions carefully.

Check the BIOS settings to make sure that the SATA controller is set to AHCI mode. Some laptops may have the SATA controller set to IDE mode, which can cause issues with DVD-ROM recognition.
