Windows 10: DVD-RW Drive

I burnt photos on the DVD-RW drive with a DVD-R disc, the photos are now blurred. Could it be because I used an R disc instead DVD-RW.?
Trying to get to the bottom of the blurring problem, never had this before.

Is it in fact a CD Romdrive or is it in fact a DVD RW Drive?

If it is a DVD RW drive it should still work with CDs.

In order for us to properly address your issue with formatting a DVD-R/RW disc, we'd like to ask a few questions.

• Are you getting any error messages when formatting a DVD-R/RW disc?If yes, what is the exact error message?
  
• Have you tried formatting a DVD-R/RW disc to other DVD-R/RW drive?
• Have you tried inserting other disc like DVD movies or mp3 disc to check if the DVD-R/RW drive is working?

I would be enormously surprised if there was any such difference between DVD-R and DVD-RW.

 

The type of optical disc should not matter. Bits is bits.

What software did you use to burn these to disc?

The situation you describe, sounds like "something" caused your original images to be downsampled/downsized in the process of viewing or sending them to the DVD.

Suggest you do a binary file compare between the original images and the ones on the DVD.

 

No, that is not the problem. The file would be exactly the same on a DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW. It should be anyway.
The blurring maybe due to the Application you use to view. Some use resampling to display.
Some DVD burning applications may also do this resampling as already mentioned.

A straightforward burn a copy should not do that.

I use IrfanView and this resampling is turned off so you see the 'real pixels' displayed. In this case the blurring is just for display purposes the file stays the same.
