Windows 10: DVD+RW not working at all

So, i found an old dvd+rw a few days ago and i wanted to use it. However, it doesnt work says Windows was unable to complete the format and programs cant do it either. I've tried formatting it, erasing it, and nothing is working. I do have a dvd+rw compatible drive, and it does detect a dvd+rw in file explorer, but i cant do anything. I press " Use like usb flash drive " and it says unable to complete format. I press " Use in a cd/dvd player " and nothing happens. My disc drive is working, as i can burn to a dvd-r . I have a sony DVD+RW DPW47L1 .

In order for us to properly address your issue with formatting a DVD-R/RW disc, we'd like to ask a few questions.

• Are you getting any error messages when formatting a DVD-R/RW disc?If yes, what is the exact error message?
  
• Have you tried formatting a DVD-R/RW disc to other DVD-R/RW drive?
• Have you tried inserting other disc like DVD movies or mp3 disc to check if the DVD-R/RW drive is working?

External DVD/RW not recognized withWindows 10

This circumstance can occur if the device hardware fails or if the device driver fails.



I suggest you to uninstall the Universal Serial Bus Controller
associated with the external DVD/RW (Cnm) and reinstall it from the manufacturer’s website and check if it helps.



To uninstall the drivers from device manager follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
• Expand Universal Serial Bus Controller.
• Find the Cnm DVD/RW drive.
• Right click on the driver and select Uninstall.

DVD rw driver

I installed DVDRW drive in hp probook that didn't have one a refurbished laptop. So it didn't come with drivers for the DVD rw CD drive player. Windows restart driver finder so on can't open it get it to work there's no dvdrw CD drive listed anywhere in
Windows pc my computer this pc so on I know the system. At HP support it scanned for drivers showed I need DVD CD driver download charge is 9.95. Will this start the DVD rw drive even though the download is for a DVD CD drive. Should I do the download?
