Windows 10: dvdrom drive stopped working on windows7 system

dvdrom drive stopped working on windows7 system, dvd is not coming up as a drive but does register on device manager but comes up with device status as A driver service for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. Code 32 i thought initially the drive was dead so plugged in an external usb dvdrom with the same result.

Make sure that they are all connect properly with the power and transfer cables.

Will the Drawer open to put in a DVD/CD.

All drives are working as for the power and cables.
Drawers open and the light on the front of each drive comes on.

Have a look in the Device Manager.

Go to : Start.

Type in : Device Manager and select it from the drop down.

Select :the : Actions Tab.

Select : Scan for Hardware changes.

What does it say as this should refresh the list ???

The drives ARE listed but there is an yellow exclamation point
on the icon in front of the name of each drive.

Click on : DVD/CDROM Drives.

This should show the CD/DVD Drives attached.

What does it say there and are any of your CD/DVD Drives listed ???

If not it should produce a code in there in relation to why it is not working.

Each drive reports under Driver File Details:
5 different files listed.

If I uninstall all drives and reboot the computer:
After it boots:
It reports : Device Driver was not successfully installed
Lists all three drives names with a red X Failed

It seems that the software can't find the drivers even
though they are there.

SOMETHING IN SERVICES????

In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
Are you able to follow them?
In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.
