    Dynamic disk created in error...how to remove


    Somehow unintentionally I created a dynamic disk partition on what was my boot drive but is now intended to be my documents and pictures folder drive.

    How do I get rid of the first dynamic partition and change it to a normal partition to store my 'Documents" & "Pictures" folders for the new Win 10 Pro drive C:

    Windows (Drive C ) is running fine.

    trying to set the default location for Pictures and Documents to the original (C) now drive (D)...want only 2 partitions when fixed - "Documents" and "Pictures"

    Thanks, for the information. However, I already understand how to convert back to a basic disk. My problem is that I have data on the dynamic disk I need to remove. They are backup files from Windows 7 before I upgraded to Windows 10. For a reason I
    don't understand, Windows 10 doesn't see the dynamic disk. Windows 7 did. I assume Windows 10 will see the disk once I convert to basic. However, I'm not certain of that. Nevertheless, I need to restore the backup files before converting the dynamic disk
    to basic.

    What now? How do I retrieve my backup files before converting the disk to basic?

    If you like, you may be able to use OPTION ONE in the tutorial below to convert the disk from dynamic to basic again without losing anything. I would recommend to backup anything you don't want to lose on that disk to be extra sage though.
