Windows 10: Each backup set is so large it takes up most of my external hardrive and has used up cloud...

So I have no clue why my back ups are taking up so much space, part of the problem is it seems like program files are also being backed up, its almost like my whole computer is backing up each time and have no clue how to fix it. The second issue i have is my C drive seems to have duplicates of each file/program/everything but the duplicate is in a different location, how does this happen and how do i fix it?I have a HP spectre x360 15-eboxxx and use a samsung portable ssd external hard drive with 500gb windows 11 Pro

Hello all techies need your help.

I have been using my External hardrive case with different memory card plug in the front of the external hardrive case.

It has been working for over five years fine and something happened that it wants to now format it. I know all the information is still on the Hardrive. However, how do I get my windows to recognize the Hardrive or hardrive to recognize windows? I don't
want to lose all my data please.

How to set a Backup location (Windows XP)?

Hi Greg - It is Windows 7.

The problem is when I attach an external hard drive to use as a backup the device does not come up as a possible backup (if I go through the steps to choose a backup). Nor is it listed as a folder in the Libraries window to drag files into.

I have gone through via Windows help all steps, and yet the drive is still not appearing as a possible Backup location.

(It is listed in Devices).

If you can explain to me how to set this external hard drive up as a backup I'd be grateful!

I was going by other advice and articles that suggest that backing up under Update and security/backup is now the way to go. I will try your suggestion.
