Windows 10: Each log-in to hotmail now I'm told to reset password as too many attempts made with...

Each log-in to hotmail in past week or so I'm told to reset password as too many attempts made with incorrect PW, which is not accurate. Also I'm unable to have recently added bulk contacts auto-populate email address when trying to create an email using their name.

hotmail password reset

my friend lost access to his email account and he asked me to help him reset his password. So i started the password reset and the hotmail system wanted to sent me a pin to his mobile phone. Unfortunately he didn't have his mobile phone with him. So i tried to choose the alternatives for delivering a password reset pin code to one of my own email adresses. After a couple of minutes i got the pin code to my personal email. Is this really how it should be? So everybody who got the mail adress of my friend is able to change his password? I must say i didn't finish the procedure because he wanted to try it at home with his mobile phone. But Isn't this lack of security? I also watched a guide on YouTube how somebody changes his hotmail password. He wasn't asked to confirm his birthday date or his security question, just by typing in the pin code he obtained....

 

bebo/hotmail/facebook hacked

ok a friend of mine that i work with had been getting abuse on bebo for a couple of days from some random fake bebo account. then a few days later (today!) her bebo/hotmail/facebook gets the passwords changed three times within a day.

each account had a different password and had the same password for a long time then she tried to login into the facebook acount and it says wrong username/password so she resets her password and goes to check her email for the password reset email and cant log into that either so she resets that also and all is well for a little while. a few hours after that she is at her mums and tries to log into facebook and its changed once again. so she tries to log into hotmail to click n the password email again and the password had changed again but again she manages to reset it.

so she tries her bebo to make sure its ok and it logs in fine. i done a virus scan and adaware and it picks up nothing and i assume the comuter is ok.

then the bebo/facebook/hotmail changes passwords in less time than a virus scan and while i seen a program in task manager called DNS something and i though that was odd. thinking that mabe shes been sent to a fake site to log into and thats how they have been gettin her passwords. so i got her to use my laptop and mobile broadband connection instead of her wireless and change all her passwords to something else.

now the only thing i can think of that could do this type of thing is some kind of DNS spoofing or a keylogger. all avg ever fund was a swizzor virus but as far as i know its just popups.


anyone else have any idea on how somone managed this ? its starting to freek my friend out.
