Windows 10: Earbud Combo-Jack won't fit.

I have a new laptop (and see specs) that I'm slowly learning to use and I'm having a problem inserting the 3.5mm combojack (CJ) into the jack's receptacle, has anyone ran across this?

I'm pretty sure I can't hear sound from the earbuds because when I have the CJ in as far as I dare the sound continues to play from the CD thru the laptops speakers and as long as I've been using devices like this, the sound stops coming from the main speakers when you plug in the jack and you have to use what you plugged in, in order to listen to what you're playing on the optical drive.
This is as far as I dare but it still sticks out a 1/16th of an inch; That's a wireless mouse dongle to the left of the CJ, that went in okay, a bit snug, but okay:




The power adapter plug acted the same way, went in 3/4 of the way but I had to use more force than I wanted to, to insert the last 1/16 of an inch, I know I'm going to have to use more force on the CJ than the power plug to finish inserting the CJ, but I thought I'd ask if anyone else ran across this before I made an attempt.

Nokia 2600 headsets?

There is no headset specified for the 2600 on the Nokia site.

The HDC-5 does not fit this model phone.

Is there a wired earbud that will fit the jack on this phone?

 

1x Headphone/mic combo jack not working

Got the same issue. My laptop is Asus K401LB. 1x combo audio port. I have tried using combo jack audio splitter, but won't detect external microphone. Search google on it but nothing solve the problem. I really don't wanna use USB soundcard, so please
fix this issue. Its diffrent using combo jack and USB soundcard.

 

The Lenovo site doesn't detail exactly what type of jack you have. It is listed as "combo jack". That could mean it can either be a headset OR mic jack, depending on what is plugged in. It could also mean it is the same type of jack that is on an iPhone that will take a combination Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve type plug for BOTH headset and mic.

As this is new, I would contact Lenovo support before going any further.

The earbuds I have are for listening and mic and I will try contacting lenovo.

I did try a non-conductive probe to determine the depth of the receptacle and found that the depth and length of the plug match, but I'm still leery about using excessive force trying to seat the plug.

 

It's just not pressed in fully.
They can be hard to press in due to the slope on the tip and the socket tip contact design. Depends on a particular 3.5 mm socket.
I certainly have some that are much more difficult to insert.

A combo jack (3.5 mm) is exactly the same as say a headphone jack but with an extra ring contact.

Thanks for the link Helmut the plug pix matches my plug layout; Mic at the base, then ground and right, left speakers. I'll be seeing my brothers later, I'll ask them and if my local shop is open on the way home I'll stop and ask the tech.

fireberd, I have the lenovo 800# they're open from 9 to 6 today.

It's not imperative at the moment but I would like to figure this out for video conferencing later.
