    Earphones not detected at first Windows 10


    It's interesting that my jack earphones are getting recognized only the second time whenever I plug them in. I reinstalled audio drivers, tried to downgrade driver, installed new drivers from manufacturers website but it's still not working.

    I'm pretty sure the issue is software and not hardware related, because interestingly it gets recognized every 2nd time.

    I tried switching earphones but the result it's the same.


    This issue did not exist 3 months ago. I don't know if it's due to a Windows update or a driver update but it's getting really frustrating and it seems like impossible to use.


    I use Windows 10 Pro, version 10.0.19042 Build 19042, the driver is RealtekR Audio, version: 6.0.9018.1.

    I deleted the driver several times but no result.


    I kindly ask you to give me an advice.

    unable to detect earphone when plugged in (windows 10)

    I am unable to hear/record from earphone/headphone.

    I have up to date Realtek driver, but unable to bring up realtek HD audio manager.

    I wanted to follow this suggestion:

    Method 1: Enable jack detection.



    1. Open Realtek HD Audio Manager.
    2. Uncheck Disable front panel jack detection from the Connector Settings from the right pane.

    Headphone Jack not working (Windows 10, Dell),
    but unable to do it because I cannot see it.

    can you help?

    Earphone mic not being detected

    Maybe as a work around you could use a Y spliter. Where you plug in your headphones into it and the other ends will go in your mic and earphone ports on your pc/laptop. Yes i understand they are combo ports but i'm just suggesting this as a workaround till you can find drivers that makes the combo port work correctly.
    Here is the cable i was talking about. You don't have to use it but just a suggestion as a workaround and as a last resort.
