    Easiest way to restore a deleted \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate?


    I just recently upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Was going through the registry to tweak a few things as I've done in the past when I fat-fingered the del key, wiping out the entire branch of \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate. Perhaps not surprisingly, this borked Windows update for me. Decided to try sfc /scannow, then DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth, then DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth. Perhaps not surprisingly, none of those worked. Then tried running the Windows Troubleshooter for Windows Update. Again, no luck.Normally I would usuall

    I would like to know if anyone is aware is the following registry link goes to in Windows 10. It was available in Windows 8.1.

    Does anyone knows what is the equivalent key "lastsuccesstime" for missing registry key in Windows 10 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\Results\Install‏. It shows when was the lastest Windows updates being

    Easiest way to restore a deleted \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate?

    UUP to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 Build Upgrade Files  


    Here are some steps to show what my statement was based on:

    • In RegEdit change [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate] to "SupportsUUP"=dword:00000000
    • Open Settings and access the Windows Insider Program screen. You do not need to change anything.
    • Now check [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Orchestrator] and you will find that the "EnableUUPScan" dword has vanished completely.
    • Now change [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate] to "SupportsUUP"=dword:00000001
    • Access the Windows Insider Program screen again in Settings. Leave that page and re-enter if you were still on it.
    • Now check [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Orchestrator] and you will find that the "EnableUUPScan" dword has re-appeared and has been auto-set to dword:00000001
