Windows 10: Easy backup for entire laptop and table top computers

I'm an older 70's retired non-techy user of a laptop and husband uses a table top computer, both of which need to have an 'entire' backup of computer programs/sytems, etc. and everything else. I'd love to get the most simple instructions for the easiest/ best way to do this. Do I do this simply on a disk if so what type? or a memory stick if so, what type?. Looking forward to learning more. I have the most recent windows 10 upgrade, and hubby's is windows too, but not sure what.....

Windows 10 entire systems backup/restore applications for my laptop

I have a Laptop with a 500gb SSD. The SSD went totally bad, lost everything.
So I had a repair shop put in a 1tb and restore Windows 10 for me. But I am one of the original owners of the first IBM PC's so I know my way around a PC and going to do my own backup/restores if needed.

I decided to buy a 1tb SSD USB3 external portable and do the backup of the entire disk weekly.
I am ready to try but need good advice on an external OS/entire disk BACKUP/RESTORE program that will:
make an image, etc and restore back easily if needed.

Can someone suggest 1 or2 GOOD applications to buy?

I pointed you at diskpart more specifically because of the things you mentioned in post #3, not specifically for your question in your 1st post.

When you say "backup and restore my GPT partition table", it's a little confusing at to what specifically you're after. GPT itself stands for "GUID Partition Table". That is, GPT is a disk partitioning scheme.

Is it an entire disk that is created with GPT layout that you want to backup and restore? There is native backup for your disk, whether it be in GPT layout or MBR, at Control Panel / System and Security / Backup and Restore (Windows 7), in Windows 10.

I'm not a fan of that means and use Macrium Reflect for doing entire disk images.
