Windows 10: ECC DDR4 for

Hi, just upgraded my system from Win7 Home to Win10 Home in the process bought a new mobo, cpu and cooler, and memory.

I am running Win10 v 1909 (OS build 18363.535) on a MSI X570-A PRO (MS-7C37) mb, a AMD Ryzen 7 2700x cpu and 2x8Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400Mhz non-ecc memory. I made a mistake I think in not getting ECC memory as I missed that when doing the whole order. I had run the latest MemTest86 program and all tests passed except the last one, hammer, that froze about 80% through.

I posted here first because would that mem have something to do with this because the ecc sticks could have managed this with the 2700x. I had a great deal of trouble trying to find the right mem modules and thought I had ordered eec.

I can also post on the memtest forum, but wanted a general idea of do's and dont's first.

are all DDR4 ram cards non-ecc and unbuffered?

Hello guys! I've been working on this build of mine and my motherboard requires DDR4 Non-ECC and Unbuffered ram cards. Now theres alot of nice expensive cards and others that are rather cheap and I believe are a good quality. I found some Crucial DDR4 16GB 2400MHz DUAL S (2X8GB MODULES) 1.2V from fry's for like 88.99 which is pretty decent. However I cannot find any information regarding if it is Non-ECC or Unbuffered. Now from what I can tell all DDR4 ram cards have been non-ecc and unbuffered.

Any suggestions peeps?

There is DDR4 ecc but thats sodimm so yes its non-ecc unbuffered

But you should post the model # and what the memory is for

 

DDR4 2400MHz C14 or DDR4 2133MHz C13

neither is better. thy are likely the same thing, with near identical performance. As suggested, some user report issue with BIOS compatibility with Corsair DDR4 (more than is normal), so be sure the memory is on your board's QVL list (although 2400 MHz is rather slow for DDR4, 3000-3200 MHz is where real performance benefit of DDR4 begins)
