There are 3 sites that Edge refuses to remember my passwords; they are all financial. In Chrome there is no problem, it remembers them all. So, can anyone tell me if I can "force" Edge to remember a password? Can I manually enter the URL, UserId, and PW somewhere? Thanks in advance.

    :)

I have found that in order to access apps with passwords I have to allow cookies in Edge settings. Otherwise it does not connect to the online app. Is there a way to do both?

    Edge and Passwords

Curiously enough I had problems some while back in Edge and that was with financial sites. Mysteriously the problem went away.

I can't think of anything specific although Edge does seem to handle some login data differently to how it used to.

Do you have any program that could be deleting anything related to these passwords. Also, if you go to control panel and access 'Credential Manager' do you see all your Edge sites details. Is the problem one there ? Is it there if you access the details only to see it disappear some time later ?

I can't suggest anything to fix the issue I'm afraid whether the above does happen or not, but it might give some clues.

And actually just looking at mine now I see my bank login is on view and the financial site that gave issues is not. How secure is that MS, anyone could write the password and login details down from what I see.

Actually I would not want any passwords to financial sites saved on my computer.
In fact you should log out of them when you are finished with any transactions or whatever.
If you are ever hacked or get any malware, well, then they have your passwords.

Many sites now are even automatically sign users out, when the close the tab, the browser, or move on to somewhere else.
A good example is MSI's forums, when I close the tab or the browser, I will need to resign in, if the tab remains open, I can go back and still be signed in... for awhile.

Credential manager shows UserID in clear for sites but you need to enter your Windows user name/Password to see the password. Anyone can delete them.

You can manually add URL, UserID and password into credential manager. Whether Edge would pick it up for the sites in question I don't know.EDIT - apparently you can't add web credentials manually, only Windows ones, sorry about that.

  7. Thanks very much for your answers. Come to think of it, Cliff, your comment about saved passwords to financial sites has got me wondering. Perhaps I should leave well enough alone and enter the passwords manually when I need to. I mean, it's not like I log in every five minutes, so it's no great hardship. Thanks again.

Thing is Cliff, I always always do manually log out of the bank site, and the site confirms with a 'you have successfully logged out' message.

The one thing standing between anyone having the user ID and password and gaining access is the third verification stage of asking for random characters from a chosen 'memorable phrase or word'.

It just seems wrong to have a screen available in W10 (the credentials manager) where all the login details (not the memorable word of course) are freely available. My TenForums details are all there along with many other sites.

I'm using a local account and have declined to use a password to access the PC and so in my case just clicking 'credential manager' brings the details up. Its a case of how much security you want in your home environment but perhaps an option to access credential manager via a password would be good.

If you have a windows password set it comes up like this when you try to show the web password...

Perhaps you could set a password and then auto logon... If not it is a bit risky for sure.

Some sites do save the password in Edge, but you still need to sign in doing the Captcha.
