    Edge Browser Not Casting Media To Devices and\or Not Finding 'Chromecast Built-in' Devices.


    A heads up to anyone getting frustrated with Edge Browser not casting media to devices...I recently encountered the issue of suddenly not being able to 'Cast Media To Devices' and no devices being detected via Edge Browser; yet, Windows 10\11 still detects devices in 'Bluetooth & Other Devices etc.I ended up resolving the issue by hard resetting Holding Down Power Button and\or power-cycling my AV Receiver for Chromecast Built-in not external dongle to reinitialise firmware and Edge Browser to fully recognise AV Receiver connected via Ethernet to Local Area Network LAN.Hope this he

    How to Chromecast from Edge browser

    I have read that Edge supports the use of Chromecast to send from a webpage. In particular I quote this link How to Cast Media from Microsoft Edge to Google Chromecast
    "The “Cast tab” will find all the Chromecast devices on your network. And you can choose which device you want to send the media to."

    Well, it doesn't! All I get is a message popup on the right of my screen that states that Miracast is not supported on my PC
    I have tried casting the same webpage on Opera and it sort of works, but not good as the video buffering is very bad. Firefox is as good as Edge regarding buffering but neither can find my Chromecast!
    I know that the Chrome browser is supposed to be OK but I don't want to get involved with that!

    Any ideas?

    I have made a further experiment comparing Edge with Chrome browsers. When playing a video from a TV broadcaster they both have a clear image and good audio (using the same URL on each browser in turn.)

    Chrome can cast as specified, and Edge cannot. Chrome finds my Chromecast device but Edge can't. In the Devices and Printers page the Chromecast unit is shown greyed out even when Chrome is casting.

    How to Chromecast from Edge browser

    I think you have to enable a cast flag of one sort or another at edge://flags/
    this one works for me...

    Why does "cast media to device" not work with chromecast?

    Don't answer the question. It's clear Microsoft doesn't want to support chromecast, so I'm just going to stop using Edge and move to Chrome.
