Windows 10: Edge browser quits every time a few seconds after launch

I have a Surface Pro 5th gen running Windows 10. Every time I launch the Edge browser it quits within 5 seconds. Wanted to uninstall and reinstall but have been unable to uninstall Edge since it was installed with Windows. I tried unsuccessfully doing an uninstall from the command prompt. Can anyone help getting Edge back up and running? Currently using Chrome with no issues.

Have you tried resetting your browser? If not, we suggest you to do so. To reset Edge, follow these steps:

• 
  Go to
  Browser Settings.
  
• 
  Clear
  Browser Data.
  
• 
  Close the browser and launch it again.
  

If the issue persist, follow these other steps:

• 
  Go to
  Task Manager.
  
• 
  Click on
  MicrosoftedgeCP.exe
  
• 
  End the task.

Browser will not launch

Windows 10 (home version) will not launch any browser after starting it the first time. I always have to stop windows and reboot the PC a second time before I can launch a browser. It does not matter whether it's Windows Edge, Chrome or Torch.

The error I received is: "Browser is not responding. It won't let me stop the program in Program Manager. The browser screen just stay blank and hung. This is a consistent problem.

Can somebody help??

I had faced similar issues with the edge browser. It disappeared one day. There was no way to manually launch the edge browser. I was able to fix it by reinstalling the edge browser.

First we need to delete the corrupt Microsoft Edge Folder. The path => C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe

Delete the "Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe" Folder

You may not able to delete the folder itself and 2 or 3 files. but it does'nt matter. Select the folder, Hit Delete, Then if it asks for admin privileges, Just hit skip and then ok . Restart the computer.

Then Launch Powershell as administrator and run the following command. Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml" -Verbose}

Hit enter and once the command is executed, Quit powershell and restart the computer to complete the process.

The edge browser will be back and running in all its glory.
