  1. Edge: Hmm, we can’t reach this page?

I've set Google as my search provider in Edge. If I open a new tab and type where it says: Search or enter web address, I get:

Hmm, we can’t reach this page.

    Try this
•Make sure you’ve got the right URL: http://windows 7 iso download
    •Refresh the page
    •Search for what you want

If I click on the last option, a search opens in Bing.

    This is driving me crazy!

    :)

  4. Edge: Hmm, we can’t reach this page?

Does Google look ok as the default search provider in advanced options?

    I just tried

    Went to Google home page
    brought up settings\advanced
clicked the drop down for search box and selected add new
it showed me google was available and I clicked add as default

are these the same steps you took?

  5. Yes, Advanced Settings shows:

Search in the address bar with
    Google (Google)

  9. I have the same issue on one of my laptops.

Upgraded from Windows 7 Home to Windows 10 Home. After the last cumulative KB, it seems like something happened with Edge Search.

So every time I open Edge, start typing a search I want to do, it shows the "Cant reach this page" instead.

Also tried to change from Bing to Google as standard search engine, but no luck in getting rid of that page.
So now I have to manually go to Bing or Google to actually do searches.

No errors / warnings in eventlog either.

Do you have any other problems with your OS? It may be necessary to reinstall clean. Many times upgrades don't quite migrate everything correctly, and a clean install is the only option.

  11. Everthing else is tip top! nothing wrong with it.
So I think its a bug in the last cumulative KB that came out, becuase it was working fine before that.
And I just downloaded that today, as the laptop has been turned off the last week.

I've been having a similar issue too. Edge says "can't reach this page." Windows search says "We can't connect to the web right now." But Edge can't see Bing, Google, Yahoo, or any other website I try to hit.

And yet, I launch Chrome. I can surf like there's no tomorrow.

Outlook? Connects, sends, and receives just fine.

    Dropbox? Sure. No problem.

Adobe Creative Cloud? Just updated two apps.

Save files to my NAS? Or print to my network printer? Yep. Sure can.

And yet, here I sit with Chrome open on one monitor typing this entry, and on my other monitor sits Edge "Hmmm"ing to itself like an idiot.

This is TRULY a remarkable achievement by Microsoft. They've managed to kill their own browser and search system, but everything else just keeps going. Bravo!!
    *Thumbs

Seriously though, anybody have any luck taking care of this issue? I'm poking fun at Edge by talking about Chrome, but the truth is, I don't like Chrome. Or FireFox, or Safari or any of the others. I'm a Microsoft boy. And honestly, I I don't care for the Apple-fication that I see going on. If I want a dumb toy with pretty colors and nice soft edges, I'll by a Mac. But I can't understand for the life of me how Microsoft has lobotomized Edge and Cortana, yet everything else still sees the internet just fine. Can even do a old fashioned (and not very hip) ping (see below for the proof)... But no Edge love!

Interestingly enough, when I go into the Control Panel (was it really necessary to bury it?) and check out my Network and Sharing Center, I'm informed that "You are not connected to any networks."

Funny that, really. All those pages I sent to my network printer must be in my imagination. As, obviously, this post because since I clearly don't have a network connection, I can't possibly be typing this right now into Chrome.

No issues found by the troubleshooting system. Just can't connect through Edge or Windows Search.

Edge: Hmm, we can’t reach this page?

I just finished upgrading to win 10 from 7 and noticed cortana wasn't working. did a search and had the same problem as you with Edge just not going anywhere even though chrome and everything else was working fine. i was working at the same time and then turned off my vpn. voila! edge started working. Probably not the same problem for you, but just in case, thought you should know.

  14. I manage to solve a similar issue:

Open Internet Explorer - Go to Tools | Manage Add-Ons
    Click on Search Providers
Make sure the "Search in the address bar and the search box on the new tab page" is ticked!
Close everything - go to Edge, try searching again....

  15. I was going to suggest going to advanced settings under settings. If you see Google listed is to remove it. Go to google, and see if it gets relisted. if so, chose it. Then select Google in the drop down box. I don't seem to be affected by this issue, however.

This site add a few search providers in a list that you can choose from. Add Google, Reddit, Yahoo, Ask Search to Microsoft Edge

    Seems to work ok.
