Windows 10: Edge not performing

microsoft tried to upgrade edge on my pc, and now i cant do anything all my files have gone the bottom bar on the screen is just a white strip there is no icons the off button is not there I have to switch off my pc by the button on the pc I can't access settings I can't do anything every time I switch on my pc I have to wait twenty minutes for it to prepare windows and i have to always finish edge set up which doesn't seem to finish.how can I sort this mess out I can't access settings to uninstall anything I even tried to hold down the shift button whilst starting up but nothing happened I

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region

We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.

 

Performance issues related to Microsoft Edge

Yes, I meant Microsoft Edge will not open after todays update. I tried every step and procedure you listed above, but none of them resolved the issue. Update history reports the update was installed successfully. I could not perform method 2 listed above
as Edge will not open. it appears for approximately 2 seconds with its blue start page, then disappears.

I suggest you to perform a SFC (System File Checker) scan by following the steps below and check if the issue persists:

• Right click on Start button and select “Command Prompt (Admin)”.
• Type “sfc /scannow” and press Enter.
• After the scan is complete, type “exit” and press Enter.

I suggest you to perform the steps provided below to change home page.

• Open Edge, click on (…) option on top left corner.
• Click on Settings.
• Under ‘Open With’, select ‘A Specific page or pages’.
• In the drop down select ‘Custom’.
• Add the website/link and press Enter.
• Close and open Microsoft Edge.
