    Edge not responding, updated windows 10 20h2 and got into more trouble


    For the past 2 days I have been getting Edge not respondingspinning blue donut went to google for help and was told to get the latest updates. Added 20h2 update. Upon startup after adding pin, the screen went blank. Finally went to Ctrl/Shift/F10 and the desk top appeared but the task bar was empty except for Start, talk to Cortina. All my icons were missing. The icons mysteriously returned but if you shut down, the above events repeat again and again.

    My original problem of Edge not responding is still there. After playing with it and trying to resolve the problem, I found that if you get the spinning blue donut and go have a cup of coffee, edge returns and responds until you turn off the browser. Of course when you turn on the browser again this problem repeats.

    I am at the point at which I do not know which problem to tackle first or what to do to solve the problems. Please help!

    Trouble upgrading 20H2 with windows update

    I'm running 10 version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.630) x64. Windows update tries to install KB4592438 2020-12 Cumulative update. Each time I run the windows upgrade, it fails saying some files are missing or have problems. Here is what I have tried: sfc /scannow, various flavors of DISM, stopped services, cleared out the upgrade cache, and restarted services. All of these result in exactly the same message.

    Should I be worried about this? Can I ignore this? What other steps should I try?

    Trouble upgrading 20H2 with windows update

    Try this > TechBench by WZT (v4.1.1), and do a clean install.
    It work for me.

    Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
