Windows 10: Edge starts then crashes

Win 10 Pro x64 Version 1607 Build 14393.187
Edge starts and then crashes. It brings up the Edge banner screen for about 1 second then shuts down. I can find 3 event logs that are associated with this but I can't get to the next step and work out the failure. Event Log Online Help takes me to a general Win 10 page which is not useful.
Edge was working before the latest round of updates which included KB3189866. I only use Edge for some tasks so it's been a few days since I tried to use it.

Groove music starts and then immediately crashes upon login

WIN 10 updated thru 7-4-17 not an insider. Groove Music crashes at login. If I am not on the internet than it doesn't but, obviously I can't login. While Groove is running if I connect to the internet and then sign in it does not crash. I have tried
all the of the tips that come up during a Bing search but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. THX.

Thank you for lettings us know, Ed. We'd like to do the following methods and see if they would resolve the issue.

Method 1: Check if you have the latest Windows 10 build installed.

Making sure that you're on the latest Windows 10 build can resolve a lot of issues. Here's an
article for your guide.

Method 2: Repair damaged Windows files that may be causing the issue.

Use the SFC and DISM scan to see if there are damaged/corrupted Windows files that is causing the issue. Follow ZigZag3143's instruction on this
Forum Article on how to use these scans.

Reply back to us if there are improvements.

 

I had {and still have} the same problem on both my harddrives after the one of the recent updates. Other apps like Mail, Store do the same.

I've fixed my main disk by using the Windows app troubleshooter but my older hdd is still suffering.

Thanks for the suggestions. The first suggestion runs but doesn't fix the problem. The second is not applicable because Edge is not in the list of Apps.

 

I loaded a backup from before the latest updates. That fixed the problem. I allowed all of the updates to install and was still OK.
