Windows 10: Edge update stopped & Software Protection Service Events every couple minutes

Hello, I have been getting constantly hammered with 2 events since installing Win10.They are the Software Protection Service has been rescheduled for 100 years till 2123 & Edge Update Stopped. Software Protection Service Waking Computer

Hi,

I understand you concern, if you have installed any recent software then this might be triggering the SPS. As of now, I suggest you to please check the status of SPS in services:

• 
  Press Windows Key + R.
  
• 
  Type services.
  
• 
  Check what state the service for SPS is, it should be in
  Automatic, if it is stopped suggest to change it to Automatic.

Stopping Microsoft Software Protection Platform Service service

The Microsoft Software Protection Platform Service process is using more than 40% of CPU usage.

How do I stop this nonsense.

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately activating isn't the issue, it is the software protection service. The service keeps stopping and then asking me to activate, which I can't because the SP service has stopped and when I try to run it I get Access Denied Error 5.

However, when the service is running and I check activation it tells me I have an activated copy of Windows 10 Pro. Then it stops and asks me to activate. So my licence is activated and genuine but the issue is with the software protection service.

I notice that if I go to the System32 folder and change the properties by unchecking the 'Read only' attribute and then rebooting that the service runs fine. After a few hours though suddenly I get the activation message.

I have taken a number of recommended steps, as detailed in my initial post. I have also installed the SR1 update.

It's really quite bizzare and any further help would be most welcome.
