Windows 10: Edge won't stop w/ PDFs

I’m certain I’m not the only person having this problem, but I can’t for whatever reason to keep Edge from taking over as the PDF reader.

I’ve set Adobe as the default, set PDF files to open w/ Adobe, and tried different tricks surfing the internet about this.


I’ve tried the sfc /scannow, there are no updates to Adobe Reader as this time, I’ve even renamed the Edge launchers.

I can go back each time and manually set Adobe to the PDF reader as default, but very much want to stop this from happening altogether.


I haven’t installed the 20H2 update, but that’s about the only hope I have left. If 20H2 doesn’t do it, the only idea I’d have left is to redo the PC from scratch.


I know Edge is an integral part of Windows, but it’d seem making Adobe the permanent PDF reader shouldn’t be this difficult.

I suggest you to follow the below given steps to print the page.

• Open the pdf file you want to print in Edge.
• Press Ctrl + P key to open print option.
• Select the Printer and desired page layout.
• Click on Print and check if it works.

To search any words in the Edge PDF viewer, press Ctrl + F and type the desired words in find box in left top corner of the browser and search.

Stop PDFs Web links from displaying inside Microsoft Edge

In order to disable Microsoft Edge's PDF feature, you need to change the file association
of PDF files, which you can do with the following steps:

• Open PC Settings.
  
• Click on Apps.
  
• Click on Default apps.
  
• Click Choose default apps by file type.
  
• Scroll down and find .pdf and click the button on the right side, which is likely to read "Microsoft Edge".
  
• Select your app from the list to set it as the new default.
  
• Click the Switch anyway link to confirm the change.
