edit: waiting it out seems to work and now i would like to know how to remove this without corrupting my driver. thanksHello, I am not really a tech savvy person so I will try to explain this as throughly as possible. So starting about 2-3 weeks ago, Windows 11 has been acting up on my drive. My R: drive seems to be badly corrupted, as it seems to be taking very long to boot my PC.Sometimes when I boot the PC up, I usually let it do disk checking and let it do its thing. The disk checking takes about 5 - 10 seconds before it finishes and boots up the LoginUi. Today, as yesterday I let it slee

    W10 corrupts W7 hard drive

(For any query related to Windows Operating System, feel free to post on Microsoft Community.)

Is this not a W10 operating system problem?

Anyway, Turns out corruption is caused by a service in W10 switched on by default. This causes W10 to run a disk check. Other forums seem aware of this and have been suggesting for quite some time it's switched "off" by default.

Still don't understand why w10 uses chkdisk on a raid Array, or why W10 chkdsk corrupts the drive, but switching it off resolves the problem and prevents many hours of reloading W7.

Installing an SSD drive on my desktop to use as the C bootup drive

What are you talking about, I have Samsung 830 for 5 years and its still running great there is no issue with NTFS and SSD

To the OP all you have to do is use Macrium Reflect to clone your disk to your SSD you'll have to option to shrink your C partition before you start the actual clone check out this video
it walks you through step by step

    Windows 10 Update prevents bootup

I've been caught by an Update issued on 3rd January which prevents rebooting of my AMD AThlon 2 64bit PC. Ends up in a loop. All the Windows troubleshooting options and Scannow fail. Only way to use the machine
is in Safe Mode (crash the bootup three times to enter Diagnostics). MS are aware of the problem and have issued a further Update to fix the first, which I have tried to install. kb4073290-x64. Looking hopeful: but now it says, in effect, Updates can't
be run from Safe Mode. Given that the bug prevents a normal bootup, how does one apply the fix? Windows 10 Pro r3 release 170928-1534 16299.192. Thanks for any help, Richard
