Windows 10: Eee PC video driver not right

I got ten on my Eee PC but I am having difficulty getting the right video driver installed. I am unable to adjust the screen resolution or extend the screen to a vga monitor that I have connected. The screen is blue or cyan but that might be due to the cable might be going bad.

Edit it is an Eee PC 900HD with XP but I upgraded it to ten.

Might be a driver issue? I wonder if Asus have Windows 10 drivers for the Eee PC.

Only XP drivers are available for this device from ASUS:

ASUS United Kingdom


I imagine that the BIOS should be updated to the latest version and then the Chipset, ATK and then the VGA drivers. The BIOS upgrade should be unaffected by the OS version.

It may be that you need to run the setup for all other drivers with Administrator privileges and with compatibility set to Windows XP SP3. The setup programs may still not work.

Windows 10 basic display adapter may be your only choice. If limited to only 1GB of RAM, which will be shared with the videoRAM, it may never work satisfactorily.

The 1024 x 600 native resolution is also not great. You need to check the VGA cable for the external monitor, but it may just be a limitation of the graphics driver causing the blue colour cast.

I have found that on a Intel Celeron M 1.50GHz Acer travelmate with 2GB RAM, Windows 10 is just about acceptable, on an external monitor at 1440 x 900

I guess that LAN/WiFi drivers are OK since you don't mention them as a problem.

 

So far I have learned this is a way to learn patience.

The wifi works but not the Bluetooth thing I got. The battery is messed up as it says it is charging but it only lasts a few minutes on battery power if that. I am currently on my phone app but turning the computer on to get on that

 

Batteries don't last forever. It will be difficult to get a good replacement battery for such an old netbook. The correct chipset and power management drivers will help energy efficiency.

 

I got a new video cable and that helped with colour but not resolution. The resolution looks okay on the netbook screen but not the 25 inch monitor.
I go to device manager and it has s little triangle with an ! In it for the video controller. There is also an unknown device which I do not know what it is.

 

I was wondering if there is such thing as an external video card?
